The story
DELI takes its name from “delikat” and “delight,” and the team behind it – Martina Starovičová-Mießner and Stephan Mießner – has created a spot that lives up to both. Located on the grounds of the Zeitenströmung in northern Dresden, this restaurant offers a constantly changing menu of regional high cuisine with a worldly outlook. The atmosphere is warm and unpretentious, a place where guests can meet, talk, and simply enjoy.
Chef Stephan Mießner composes each dish with care. The kitchen draws on international influences while staying rooted in local ingredients. The result is cooking that feels both grounded and adventurous – exactly the kind of reliable, flavourful food that earned DELI a Michelin Bib Gourmand. This award recognises good quality, good value cooking, and it fits the restaurant’s philosophy of offering genuine pleasure without pretence.
The menu changes with the seasons, but a few signatures give a sense of the style. Starters like char siu-cured salmon with Asian cucumber salad or roasted Brussels sprouts with lemon yoghurt and avocado set the tone. Mains might include crispy pike-perch fillet with purple potato mash and creamy kale, or a lamb curry with jasmine rice, coconut, banana, and almond. For those with a smaller appetite, the “Sandwich of the Moment” – a generously filled rustico with tuna and rocket – is a favourite to take away.
The fine dining side of the house offers a four-course chef’s menu (€125) with dishes like hamachi sashimi, pigeon breast carpaccio, or a 49-degree-cooked skrei fillet. But the core of DELI remains its relaxed, ever-evolving approach to international cuisine, served from lunch until late evening.
