The story
Stresa is not a place where you simply eat to fill your stomach. Since its opening in 2013, this restaurant in Dresden’s Striesen district has grown into something more: a space for conversation, celebration, and quiet connoisseurship. The historic Wilhelminian building, with its lovingly maintained terrace, welcomes you into an elegant dining room of just under 100 square metres, seating up to 70 guests. At its centre lies the open kitchen — the literal and emotional heart of the house, connecting cooks and diners in an unusually direct way.
The cuisine here is best described as "grounded, with modern accents". Fresh, preferably regional products determine what lands on the plate. Meat comes from nearby Großenhain, fruit and vegetables from Radebeul. Bread is baked in-house, pasta is made from scratch. The menu changes with the seasons and with the clear hand of head chef Tobias Heldt, who joined the team after many years to continue the restaurant’s trajectory toward refined, thoughtful cooking. Whether classic, vegetarian, or vegan, every dish strives for balance — harmony between sweetness and acidity, depth and lightness.
Stresa is Michelin Recommended, an acknowledgement that reflects the steady, passionate work of owners Sebastian Böhme and Josefine Persing-Böhme and their team. The bistro offers affordable lunch menus from Tuesday to Friday, while the evening restaurant serves a surprise menu — available Tuesday through Saturday — that adapts to allergies and preferences. The wine list leans heavily on local Saxon vintages.
Beyond the dining room, Stresa offers private dining for groups from five to fifty, and a catering service for events of all kinds. It is a restaurant that takes its time, trusts its ingredients, and lets you do the same.
