The story

Wilde Klosterküche in Eisenhüttenstadt: Bib Gourmand Farm-to-Table Brunch

A Love for the Homeland

In the small town of Neuzelle, just outside Eisenhüttenstadt, Wilde Klosterküche has been quietly redefining what Brandenburg dining can be. Chef Christian Bauer and his team, after years of travel, returned to their roots to open this urban restaurant in 2018. Their philosophy is simple: authentic cooking needs good ingredients from the surroundings, people who experiment with them, and guests who appreciate the result.

The kitchen works in harmony with the seasons, placing special emphasis on regional sourcing and the full use of every ingredient. This commitment to fair treatment of producers and suppliers is the backbone of every dish. The menu changes with what the land offers, and guests can request a vegan 5-course menu with advance notice.

Atmosphere and Recognition

The restaurant itself is a retreat of comfort and detail—modern, uncomplicated, and relaxed. The service is similarly easygoing, letting the food speak for itself. This approach earned Wilde Klosterküche a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026, a recognition for good quality, good value cooking that fits the restaurant’s ethos perfectly.

Beyond the Menu

Wilde Klosterküche extends its hospitality beyond the dining room. A brunch is offered on select dates, and from April, the Weingarten opens daily for self-service on fine-weather days. A shop and picnic options are also available from April through September. The restaurant closes for a winter break from 3 January to 20 January 2026.

Concept Casual fine dining in a charming boutique hotel in the famous Baroque monastery town along the Oder-Neisse Valley. À la carte offerings as well as two menus: “Field & Garden” and “Forest & Pond” (vegan option available upon request). Cuisine Style The young team impresses with sophisticated compositions featuring top-quality products sourced from the immediate vicinity. For example, Neuzell potatoes are presented alongside bread rolls, vanilla, cucumber, and liver sausage from the traditional butcher right across the street. Aromatic dry-aged Neuzell venison is served with savoy cabbage, savoy cabbage chips, chestnut, butter-raisin brioche, and an intense demi-glace. Wine Excellent wines from young German winemakers. The beers from the Neuzell Monastery Brewery are legendary. You must try the house-distilled flaxseed gin. Atmosphere Stylish and relaxed; anthracite-colored walls, parquet flooring, soft lighting, and a view into the glass kitchen. A young, international service team. Even the Cistercian monks from Neuzell drop by occasionally. Verdict One of the best kitchens in Brandenburg at a true haven of comfort.
