The story

Dutters Stube, Endingen – Bib Gourmand Country Cooking in a Historic 1589 House

Two restaurants, one address

Dutters Stube brings together two distinct dining experiences under one roof in the village of Kiechlinsbergen, part of Endingen in the Kaiserstuhl wine region. The building itself is a listed half-timbered house from 1589, and here Arthur and Franziska Dutter have been hosts for more than 40 years.

The Stubenrestaurant offers what the Dutters call “badisch – elegant – leicht”: Baden-style country cooking made light and refined. A four-course set menu and an à la carte selection change with the seasons. In warmer months, the Sommerlaube (summer lodge) extends the seating outdoors. This is the setting that earned the restaurant a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026, a recognition for good quality cooking at reasonable prices.

Downstairs, the Dorfwirtschaft occupies the old vaulted cellar and takes a more rustic turn: “badisch – bodenständig – herzhaft.” Here you find oven-fresh Flammkuchen, schnitzel with fries, and Bibeliskäs with Brägele (potato wedges), plus rotating specials like a monthly steak, scampi evenings, and mussel weeks.

Chef Arthur Dutter

Arthur Dutter is one of the owners and the chef behind the Stubenrestaurant’s menus. He is also a member of the German national team of top chefs and restaurateurs – a team that plays charity football matches. His cooking stays rooted in the region, using produce from the Kaiserstuhl and the surrounding Baden countryside.

Beyond the everyday

Dutters Stube runs seasonal events that highlight the kitchen’s versatility. In March 2026, the Stubenrestaurant hosted a multi-course lobster menu, with dishes like terrine of lobster with smoked salmon mousse, curry noodle ragout with lobster claw and green asparagus, and grilled lobster tail with potato-parmesan cake. The Dorfwirtschaft, meanwhile, keeps its offerings simple and satisfying.

The restaurant also has four double rooms upstairs for overnight stays, and the building can be booked for private celebrations of 25 guests or more. The combination of a Michelin-recognized fine dining room, a hearty rustic tavern, and a historic setting makes Dutters Stube a place where Baden country cooking feels both timeless and personal.
