The story
Ars Vivendi occupies a tradition house at the forest edge in Bad Laasphe, serving international cuisine through a dynamic program of visiting chefs. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded three spoons for this approach, recognizing how rotating masters from across the globe bring their expertise to the Rothaargebirge location.
Guests meet a completely different menu each time they return, as guest chefs travel to the Jagdhof Glashütte to cook their own specialties. This model draws culinary professionals from various countries who present their personal styles, ensuring the kitchen remains vibrant and unpredictable. The frequency of changes means the international cuisine evolves continuously throughout the year.
The building preserves the character of an old inn, prioritizing unpretentious hospitality over luxurious aspirations. Warm interiors provide a calm environment where the focus stays on the food and conversation. A private room offers a secluded option for groups, while the main area benefits from the idyllic tranquility described by guides. The Varta Guide granted four diamonds to Ars Vivendi, highlighting the excellent service and elegant furnishing.
The calendar extends beyond the guest chef events with fixed weekly highlights. Saturday brings the BBQ Deluxe, centered on a Wild and Beef Club selection. Friday evenings feature Bayrisch-themed dishes, inviting guests to explore traditional flavors. Sundays open with an à la carte lunch served from midday, transitioning later into a candlelight dinner format. A gourmet breakfast buffet rounds out the daily offerings for residents and visitors.
