The story
At Eiflers Zeiten, the friendly family-run gaststube within the historic Burg Flamersheim, chef Oliver Röder and his team reinterpret the hearty, rustic cooking of the Eifel region. The menu is rooted in seasonal, regional ingredients, from lamb raised on the nearby Flamersheimer Pützhof to Eifel beef and game. The atmosphere is warm and unpretentious, with exposed wooden beams, old brickwork, and two striking bottle chandeliers setting the scene.
The kitchen turns out dishes like dry-aged entrecôte of Eifel beef with speck and herb butter, or braised Eifel ox cheek with homemade red cabbage and potato purée. Lighter options include a Feldsalat with house-made potato dressing, and a Lachscarpaccio with sea buckthorn vinaigrette. For those seeking a more refined experience, a separate gourmet menu is served in the same space, featuring dishes such as hamachi ceviche and hand-dived scallops with beurre blanc. The "Herrengedeck" – a playful take on a gentleman’s set, with oxtail soup and an apple-ash roll – has become a signature.
The restaurant’s recognition as a Michelin Recommended spot speaks to the consistent quality and creativity of Röder’s seasonal cuisine, which balances tradition with modern flair without losing its sense of place.
