The story
On the grounds of Gut Immenhof in Eutin, Melkhus is a rustic farm kitchen that has earned a Michelin recommendation for its commitment to handcrafted, regional cuisine. The restaurant is a place to gather and enjoy, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that changes with the seasons: a crackling open fireplace in winter, and a terrace overlooking the lake when the weather turns warm.
The kitchen is led by Küchendirektor Patrick Kühn and Küchenchef Christian Havemann, who build their menu around the best ingredients from Holstein. Many fruits, vegetables, herbs, eggs, fish, and meats come from the immediate neighbourhood. The team’s philosophy is simple: let the quality of local produce shine. The result is a menu of classic regional dishes that change with the seasons.
At lunch and dinner, you might find roast beef from Holstein cattle, fresh pasta with seasonal vegetables, or North German fish specialities. The à la carte menu rotates regularly to reflect what is fresh. In the afternoon, the in-house pastry team turns out cakes and tortes, served with coffee or tea on the lakeside terrace.
