The story
Anthon sits in Obersteinbach, a small village within the Vosges du Nord Regional Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The hotel-restaurant occupies a quiet street, surrounded by forests and streams. Guests find a salon, a garden, a terrace, and a wood-fired sauna with a Nordic bath. The atmosphere is unhurried, the pace set by the landscape.
The restaurant earned a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026, a mark of its consistent quality. The kitchen focuses on modern cuisine, drawing on the region’s natural larder. While the menu changes with the seasons, a suggestion package offers a four-course dinner paired with three glasses of wine – a clear expression of the chef’s ambition. Half-board and discovery packages also include multi-course meals, allowing guests to experience the cooking over a longer stay.
Anthon is both a restaurant and a hotel, with six standard and six superior rooms. The dining room seats up to fifty guests, and breakfast is served each morning. The restaurant opens from Wednesday evening through Sunday, with lunch from 12:00 to 13:30 and dinner from 18:45 to 20:30. For those who want to linger, the half-board and détente packages include a night’s stay, a multi-course dinner, and access to the sauna and hot tub – a calm conclusion to a day on the trails.
