The story
At the Alter Meierhof hotel in Glücksburg, just outside Flensburg, the restaurant Meierei Dirk Luther is the culinary heart of the house. Here, chef Dirk Luther and his team practice a classic cuisine that has earned two Michelin stars every year since 2008. The kitchen’s philosophy is straightforward: precise preparation of the finest ingredients, with a frankophile inspiration that lends elegance to every plate.
The dining room is designed for the setting. Under chandeliers made of stylised branches, guests look out over the Flensburg Fjord. When the weather allows, the star menu moves to the Fördeterrasse, an outdoor terrace with a spectacular view of the water. The atmosphere is refined but welcoming, a place where the team’s authentic friendliness matches the ambition of the cooking.
The menu changes with the seasons, but the approach is constant. Dishes are built around exceptional produce, prepared with the technical skill that Michelin recognises as “excellent cooking.” The restaurant’s own website describes the experience as “gastronomic excellence” and “true craftsmanship,” and the wine list, noted for its depth, is chosen to complement the kitchen’s work.
Meierei Dirk Luther is open Wednesday through Saturday from 18:30. Reservations are essential.
