In Frankfurt am Main's Sachsenhausen district, The Sakai offers an authentic omakase experience that has earned a place in the MICHELIN Guide Germany 2023. The restaurant is the work of Chef Hiro Sakai, a sushi master with three decades of experience in Japan, who now brings his craft to Europe.

The concept is simple: omakase, a Japanese dining style that translates to "I leave it up to you." Guests trust the chef to select and prepare the meal, ingredient by ingredient. The Sakai offers two tasting paths: the Red Menu, featuring fish and Wagyu beef, and the Green Menu, a fully vegan alternative. Both are built around seasonal, thoughtfully sourced produce.

Chef Sakai's philosophy goes beyond technique. He aims to contribute to his guests' well-being through balanced, nutritious Japanese cuisine, choosing environmentally friendly ingredients and healthy cooking methods. The result is a meal that is both wholesome and pleasurable.

The à la carte menu extends the experience with dishes like sashimi, tempura, Wagyu steak, and grilled eel. A notable sake and wine pairing program complements the food, and the restaurant's notable sake list is a draw for connoisseurs.

For those who prefer to enjoy The Sakai at home, a takeout sushi platter is available, featuring 32 pieces of nigiri and 32 pieces of maki. The restaurant encourages guests to bring their own containers to reduce waste.

The Sakai is open Monday through Saturday, with last orders at 9 PM. It is a place where Japanese contemporary cuisine meets European sensibilities, and where the omakase tradition is honoured with precision and care.
