The story
Since 2012, Henning and Jeanette Weinheimer have been running WEINreich in Freinsheim, a Weinstube that combines a relaxed, modern atmosphere with a deep respect for regional traditions. The kitchen works with high-quality products from the Pfalz and beyond, preparing them in both classic and contemporary ways. The menu changes every three to four weeks, following the seasons and keeping the offer fresh. This approach to country cooking and modern cuisine has made the restaurant a steady presence in Germany’s culinary landscape.
WEINreich has been recommended by the Michelin guide every year since it opened. Other trusted guides have followed: Gault Millau, the Aral Schlemmer Atlas, Meininger, and the VARTA Führer all list the restaurant. In 2023, the espresso Gastroguide awarded it a perfect 15 out of 15 points. These consistent accolades reflect the care put into every dish and the welcoming service that defines the house.
The wine list is a playful tribute to the German Wine Route. Bottles are listed by kilometer markers, tracking the distance from producer to table. Guests can order a Spätburgunder from Laumersheim at kilometer 12.1 or a Chardonnay sur lie from Siegrist at kilometer 69.6. The selection reaches beyond the Palatinate as well, with wines from Wagner-Stempel, Gutzler, and Dreissigacker. It is a wine list that tells a story of place and craftsmanship.
WEINreich also offers five individually designed guest rooms for those who want to stay overnight. The entire house can be rented for private events, and a catering service brings the kitchen’s food to celebrations at home. Whether for a meal, a glass of wine, or a short getaway, the Weinheimers have created a place that feels both personal and polished.
