The story
At Klösterle Hof in Bad Rippoldsau, guests find a place where tradition and comfort meet. The restaurant, run by Stefanie Huber and Markus Klein, has been a fixture since 1924. The atmosphere in the dining rooms is described as cozy, designed to please both the senses and the appetite. A highlight is the Kamin Lounge, centered around a large, rustic fireplace surrounded by plush seating, perfect for quiet moments or lively conversation.
The kitchen’s commitment to good quality, good value cooking has earned Klösterle Hof a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2025. This award, given to only 156 restaurants nationwide in Germany, highlights a cuisine that is often regional and offers excellent value. The recognition reflects the restaurant’s focus on seasonal country cooking, rooted in the traditions of the Black Forest.
The menu changes with the seasons, offering hearty, locally-inspired dishes. Starters include a Tafelspitzbrühe with herb flädle and a creamy Hokkaido pumpkin soup. Main courses feature regional classics like Schwäbische Maultaschen, Gaisburger Marsch, and Wolftäler Hirschragout with mushrooms and potato dumplings. Fish options include Forelle Blau, a trout poached in a vegetable broth, while grilled items like Iberico pork steak and Black Angus rump steak come with Café de Paris butter. The cuisine is a celebration of the region’s bounty.
During the winter months, the restaurant is open Wednesday through Saturday, with continuous service from 12:00 to 20:00. Reservations are recommended, especially in extreme weather. Note that dogs are only allowed on the outdoor terrace.
