The story
Perched at 1,250 metres, Restaurant 1250 makes the Allgäu region tasteable. The kitchen reinterprets classic dishes with fresh, regional produce, turning local ingredients into something unexpected. The Michelin inspectors have taken notice, awarding the restaurant a Recommended status for 2026 – a nod to cooking that is both grounded and creative.
The seasonal approach runs through every course. Look for a Winter Bowl 2.0 with topinambur, cashew, coriander, forest mushrooms and beetroot, or a Creme Brulée with Tahiti vanilla, raspberry and crumble. The menu also includes Allgäu specialities such as Rehrücken (venison saddle) with celery, cherry and forest mushrooms, and Wiener Schnitzel from veal. For something lighter, there is homemade ice cream by Simon, including a pistachio creation with berries and crumble. The “Menü Blau” offers a compact four-course selection that changes with the season.
The restaurant occupies the top floor of the Blaueburg hotel, with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the alpine panorama. This is high-end dining without pretension – the owners call it “1250 High-end”. Breakfast is also served here, and the buffet is open to non-guests (reservation required). The atmosphere is relaxed, the view immense, and the cooking stays true to the region.
