The story
Restaurant MASH brings its modern steakhouse identity to Hamburg, situated directly along the Norderelbe riverbank. The brand started in Copenhagen back in 2009, built around a simple premise of serving substantial cuts without unnecessary pretense. Every dish reflects a straightforward approach to high-quality ingredients, letting the cattle speak for themselves. Their culinary team rotates the menu three or four times each year to align with seasonal harvests and fresh arrivals.
Grain-fed beef from Uruguay and Canada anchors the steakhouse menu, often paired with unlimited béarnaise sauce since the spring update. Appetizers like tuna tartare with avocado and cucumber provide a crisp counterpoint before the heavier entrées arrive. Guests can also select from two daily fish options or a carefully constructed vegetarian burger when they prefer something lighter. A lightly marinated berry panna cotta typically closes out the meal, offering a bright finish to the rich proteins.
The dining room stands out immediately with its boldly painted red walls and matching upholstered chairs that face the water. Master Sommelier Jess Kildetoft curates a cellar heavy on premium American and European vintages to match the robust steakhouse selections. Patrons can also order from a bar program featuring craft cocktails and house-brewed pilsners alongside a wide array of bourbon whiskeys. This combination of striking interiors and serious drink programs recently earned the venue two ladles in the Schlemmer Atlas guide.
