The story
Christina and Adolf Behrens spotted this spot before the gates of Hamburg fifteen years ago and decided to turn it into a place for everyone. Under the guidance of kitchen chef Markus Schubert, the menu reflects their vision of Gutshofküche, representing a distinct approach to German cuisine where homey feelings meet refined contemporary cooking. The kitchen sources fresh ingredients to prepare dishes like self-baked tomato bread and juicy steaks with a touch of creativity.
The Schlemmer Atlas awarded the restaurant one and a half spoons in 2026, highlighting it as a guaranteed place to linger. Favorites in German cuisine include trout, dumplings, and curry, which appear regularly on the menu. The kitchen prepares handmade spinach dumplings and fish curry using recipes that emphasize quality over fuss. Fresh cakes and tortes baked daily offer a sweet conclusion to the meal.
The stylish dining room connects to an outdoor area set in green surroundings, where a winter bar transforms the terrace during Advent Sundays. Fire baskets, candlelight, and sheepskins create a cozy setting for seasonal mulled wine and sweet treats like waffles or Kaiserschmarrn. The warm kitchen operates continuously from Thursday through Sunday, ensuring guests can enjoy hearty plates regardless of the weather outside.
