The story
Housed in the historic Alte Oberförsterei, a former forestry office built in 1902, Ambiente Italiano brings Italian cuisine to Kelsterbach. The building, owned by the city, was thoroughly renovated and expanded between 2010 and 2011, adding a winter garden and a summer terrace. Today, the restaurant seats around 100 guests and offers several distinct dining experiences.
The Ristorante occupies an elegant, light-filled winter garden where the kitchen team, led by chef Pedro Fernandes, prepares creative, handmade Italian dishes. Fernandes cooks with heart and skill, offering everything from fresh pasta and seafood to elaborate multi-course menus. The Trattoria serves classic Italian fare – antipasti, pasta, pizza, meat and fish – in a modern setting. During warmer months, the Mainblick-Terrasse provides a view of the Main River, ideal for lunch or a relaxed evening.
A special area called “Il piacere della tavola” features a high table with comfortable armchairs. Here, there is no menu; guests are surprised with selected wines and culinary creations at a fixed friendly price. For business guests, a changing Business Lunch offers a choice of three or four light Mediterranean courses.
The restaurant also hosts themed tasting events. In autumn, a seven-course degustation menu for two (€125, including aperitif and finger food) is served on select evenings. Seasonal menus, such as a four-course Christmas menu, highlight the kitchen’s versatility.
Riccardo Re oversees the front-of-house team, providing knowledgeable wine advice and attentive service. The restaurant’s consistent quality has earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026, placing it among the notable Italian addresses in the Frankfurt region. Whether for a business lunch, a festive dinner, or a spontaneous evening on the terrace, Ambiente Italiano offers a genuine taste of Italy just minutes from Frankfurt Airport.
