The story
At Tafelhaus in Köngen, Bernd Nödinger runs a kitchen that moves with the seasons. The restaurant, housed within the Hotel Neckartal, offers two changing multi-course menus—three, four, or five courses—supplemented by daily specials and classics. The cooking combines country cooking with Mediterranean influences, a style the team describes as “creative, down-to-earth gourmet fresh cuisine.”
The Michelin recognition, which lists Tafelhaus as Recommended, points to a kitchen that delivers consistent quality without pretension. The menu changes regularly, but recent offerings give a clear sense of the kitchen’s ambition: a starter of tuna sashimi with papaya relish and lemongrass gremolata, followed by lobster and ricotta gnocchi with a crustacean foam. Main course choices might include veal fillet with a white morel foam and green asparagus, or organic salmon prepared the same way. Desserts stay playful—a “Heiße Liebe TH-Style” combines vanilla quark mousse, almond sponge, raspberries, and vanilla ice cream.
For those who prefer a more straightforward meal, the Stuben Menu offers a Caesar salad with chicken or scampi, a red curry and coconut soup with crispy scallops, and a choice between a classic Wiener Schnitzel or Nödingers’ Rostbraten with creamy pepper sauce. A vegetarian three-course menu is also available, featuring grilled peach with burrata and a pistachio crumb, spinach ravioli, and a plum dessert with hazelnut ice cream.
Tafelhaus is more than a restaurant. The team runs a catering service for events of all sizes, from intimate gatherings to celebrations for several hundred guests, working at locations that include the Mercedes Benz Museum in Stuttgart and the Haus der Rosen in Fellbach. The restaurant also offers takeaway and delivery, with all dishes available to order for pickup or home delivery.
The wine cellar is well stocked, with a selection that includes French discoveries and rarities. During winter months, the Tafelhütte—a cozy hut—remains open for relaxed evenings. The restaurant opens on select dates, typically Friday and Saturday evenings, with additional hours by request. For Easter 2026, Tafelhaus will be open on both Easter Saturday evening and Easter Sunday lunch through evening.
Tafelhaus is located at Bahnhofstraße 19 in Köngen, just off the A8 motorway, about 20 minutes from Stuttgart and 12 minutes from the airport and exhibition center. Parking is available directly at the house. Reservations are recommended.
