The story
Tischlein Deck Dich by Lilly takes its name from the Brothers Grimm tale, and stepping into its dining room feels like entering a story. The restaurant occupies the renovated vaulted cellar of the former Weingut Diehl, now part of the Villa Königsgarten hotel. With space for just 22 guests, the atmosphere is intimate and refined – modern elegance with a historical touch. In summer, a green terrace in the inner courtyard offers an alfresco alternative overlooking the surrounding vineyards.
Koch Matthis Nowak, who brings experience from abroad and roots in northern Germany, leads the open kitchen. His cooking is modern and grounded, focused on seasonal ingredients. Guests choose between three or four courses, with options at each stage. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, a three-course surprise menu (soup, main, dessert) is available for €49. The regular three-course menu is €69, while the four-course version adds an intermediate course for €84.
Recent dishes have included tranches of beef with couscous and sriracha, a delicate Lachs carpaccio with herbs and apple, and a vegetarian beetroot tartare with Greek yogurt. Main courses like Dorade with fregola and curry, or Iberico pork with green asparagus and velouté, showcase a balance of precision and boldness. Desserts such as blueberry with white chocolate and yogurt, or a classic crème brûlée with red berries, round out the meal.
Host Stefan Echle, a passionate wine lover, provides attentive and knowledgeable service. The wine list features selected regional and international bottles, and regular wine evenings in the historic cellar – called “Faßschlubber” – deepen the connection to the Pfalz terroir. The restaurant’s location in Siebeldingen, one of Germany’s sunniest spots, makes it a natural destination for wine country exploration.
The Michelin guide awarded Tischlein Deck Dich a Recommendation in 2026, noting the “modern-seasonal menu with choice” and the “friendly, trained service.” The guide highlights the beautiful setting among the vineyards at the edge of the Palatinate Forest, ideal for a culinary outing. This recognition underscores the consistency and ambition of Nowak and Echle, who previously worked together at the acclaimed Lilly in Neupotz before opening their own place here.
Tischlein Deck Dich by Lilly is a restaurant that lets its surroundings and ingredients speak – no fuss, just honest, modern cooking in a truly memorable room.
