Wasserburg am Bodensee is a village that seems painted into the landscape, with a castle, the lake, and the Alps beyond. At its heart, CARALEON sits directly on the water, a meticulously renovated hotel and restaurant that has welcomed guests since 1713. The name, from Latin "cara leo" meaning "dear lion," sets the tone – every guest is treated with the warmth and respect of royalty.

Under chef Sandy Siancas, the kitchen balances tradition with invention. Alpine classics are reinterpreted alongside Mediterranean and international creations, all shaped by a recent addition of Peruvian influences that bring surprise and complexity. Sommelière and restaurant manager Lena Siancas selects wines that complement each dish, while the service team ensures a seamless, unhurried meal. Diners can choose from several rooms, each with its own character: a wood-panelled stube for rustic charm, a bright winter garden, or the main restaurant with floor-to-ceiling views of the lake. In warmer months, the Sunset Lounge offers Peruvian-inspired small plates and cocktails as the sun drops behind the Alps.
