The story
For over a century, Geberts Weinstuben has been a fixture on Frauenlobstraße. Run by the Gebert family, it embodies Mainzer Leidenschaft und Tradition – a place where timeless quality and genuine hospitality meet. The dining room, with its warm wood paneling and convivial atmosphere, invites guests to linger over a glass of local Rheinhessen wine.
The kitchen focuses on classic cuisine, refreshed with the seasons. A typical menu might begin with a mousse of smoked trout on beetroot carpaccio, then confit duck leg in orange jus on pumpkin mousseline, finished with crème brûlée. For larger gatherings, the restaurant offers set menus that highlight regional produce. The Rheinhessen Menü, for example, features pumpkin soup, braised beef cheek on celery mousseline, and red wine pear with ice cream. In autumn, a goose menu appears with breast and leg, apple red cabbage, and marzipan apple.
Geberts Weinstuben holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand, awarded for good quality, good value cooking. The recognition reflects the restaurant’s commitment to refined, honest dishes without pretension. Whether for a private celebration or a casual dinner, the team ensures every meal feels thoughtfully prepared.
After many years, the Gebert family has announced that the restaurant will close on July 31, 2026. They invite guests to visit one last time and enjoy the classic seasonal cuisine that has made the Weinstuben a beloved address in Mainz. Until then, the kitchen continues to serve with the same care and tradition.
