The story
The Jagstmühle is a former mill, now a Landgasthof and hotel, set in the quiet Jagsttal valley in Mulfingen. The gentle sound of the river Jagst accompanies every meal. The restaurant calls itself a place “to pause at a Kraftort for people” – a spot where natural beauty and calm invite appreciation for the good things in life.
The cooking is described as “Landküche” – honest, regional cuisine that respects the richness of nature. The restaurant sources from local suppliers and generates its own energy, staying in harmony with the surroundings. The Michelin Recommended award recognizes this commitment to quality without flashiness. The kitchen’s style is rooted in classic French techniques, applied to the bounty of the season.
The seasonal menu changes regularly; a recent Easter menu featured a starter of young spring vegetables with goat cheese on pumpernickel, a celery cream soup with baked quail egg, gratinated lamb back with wild garlic, aubergine, and Anna potatoes, and a dessert of white chocolate with raspberry, pistachio, and yogurt. The à la carte list includes dishes like Arctic char in olive oil broth, braised lamb ragout with curry and polenta, and a vegan potato strudel with mustard cabbage and mushrooms. Desserts range from a “Pina Colada” interpretation to a classic “Schwarzwälder” with sour cherries and chocolate.
The restaurant is open for dinner Monday through Sunday, and for lunch on weekends and holidays. It also offers a coffee time on weekend afternoons. For private events, the team accommodates requests outside regular hours.
The Jagstmühle is a destination for those seeking a meal that feels connected to both the land and the seasons.
