The story
On the historic Burg Nideggen, overlooking the Voreifel region, Herbert Brockel and Tobias Schlimbach run not one, but two distinct restaurants. The fine-dining destination is Brockel Schlimbach, which has held a Michelin star since the 2019 edition of the guide. The award recognizes "high quality cooking" in a setting that is anything but ordinary.
The philosophy is rooted in place: "Für die Region, mit der Region, von der Region" – for the region, with the region, from the region. This commitment to local sourcing and classic craft drives the kitchen, where creativity meets traditional technique. The chefs promise that here, the chef still cooks personally.
The atmosphere on the castle grounds is a blend of history and warmth. Guests can dine in the Brockel Schlimbach restaurant or, when the weather cooperates, on the terrace in the historic inner courtyard. A special feature is the "Chef's Table" in the foyer, a communal table designed for guests to meet new people in a relaxed, almost "Stammtisch" (regulars' table) atmosphere.
For those seeking a more casual experience, the same team also runs the Kaiserblick restaurant on site, offering a different menu. And just outside, Oskar's feinstes Fastfood serves high-quality burgers and currywurst from a food truck. But for the full expression of their modern cuisine, the Michelin-starred Brockel Schlimbach is the destination.
