Bratwursthäusle Nuremberg: A Tradition Since 1312

At Bratwursthäusle, tradition is not a marketing word—it is a daily practice. Since 1312, the restaurant has been grilling its own Nuremberg Rostbratwürste over beechwood fires in the heart of the city. The sausages are made on-site in the house’s own butcher shop, using a time-honoured recipe and experienced butchers to ensure quality. This dedication to craft has earned the restaurant a Michelin Recommended distinction, a fitting nod to its unwavering consistency.

The atmosphere is unmistakably Franconian. From the moment you step inside, you are surrounded by a setting where families, friends, couples, and solo diners all feel at home. The aroma of grilling sausages is impossible to miss, even from outside. Beyond the signature bratwurst, the menu offers other Franconian specialties, best enjoyed with a freshly tapped Tucher beer.

The location is as historic as the food. Situated on Rathausplatz, the restaurant’s two terraces offer views of the Nuremberg Town Hall, St. Sebaldus Church, and the market square. The famous Kaiserburg is just a short walk away. It is a place where the food and the setting are rooted in the same long, unbroken story—a true taste of Bavarian grill tradition in Nuremberg.
