The story
China-Restaurant Tang in Nürnberg presents a broad selection of Chinese cooking guided by host Duong A. Ban. His family runs the kitchen daily, drawing inspiration from the historical Tang Dynasty that gave the venue its name. This dedication to authentic regional preparation recently earned the venue a one-spoon rating from the Schlemmer Atlas guide. Guests encounter techniques that range from rapid wok frying to slow braising in dark soy and rice wine.
The kitchen prepares Peking duck alongside spring rolls and wonton soup as part of its Beijing-inspired offerings. Shanghai contributions appear through crispy fried prawns labeled as “Shanghai” crab and tender eel cooked in oil. Szechuan heat enters through spicy-sour soups and twice-cooked pork, while Cantonese plates deliver quick stir-fries and sweet-sour preparations. Each dish follows established regional parameters rather than attempting fusion experiments.
Mahogany wood panels line the interior walls beneath an expansive glass facade that welcomes natural light. Two seven-meter saltwater aquariums anchor the center of the floor space. Computer-regulated filtration maintains six thousand liters for stingrays, seahorses, and docile reef fish. An artificial lighting cycle mimics daylight and moon phases throughout service hours.
