The story

MINNECI: Italian Fine Dining in Nuremberg – Michelin Recommended

The Soul of Italy in Nuremberg's Old Town

Since 2003, MINNECI has been a destination for Italian fine dining in the heart of Nuremberg. Housed in a picturesque Renaissance building from the 16th century, the restaurant originally opened by Leonardo and Elisabeth Minneci is now under the stewardship of Boris Jakir, their long-time restaurant manager, who took over in 2023. The kitchen team, led by an experienced crew, delivers what the restaurant calls “alta cucina” – refined Italian cuisine that is carefully updated with influences from the Mediterranean and Dalmatia, the patron’s homeland.

This commitment to quality has earned MINNECI a recommendation from the Michelin Guide, and the magazine Der Feinschmecker counts it among the 20 best Italian restaurants in Germany. The menu changes monthly, offering a choice of multi-course tasting menus, à la carte dishes, and a business lunch at midday. Dishes like vitello tonnato, artichoke parmigiana, tortelli with oxtail ragout and winter truffle, or char with beurre blanc and char caviar are prepared à la minute using fresh, seasonal, and regional produce.

Atmosphere and Wine

The setting is elegant and welcoming, with a summer garden that transforms the courtyard into a leafy idyll of palm trees, roses, and lemon trees. For cooler months or private events, the historic cellar vault provides an atmospheric space. The wine list is a serious affair: over 350 labels from famous Super Tuscans and Barolos to indigenous Italian varieties, plus French champagnes and selected German, Austrian, and Croatian wines. Wine pairings are available for all menus, starting at €65.

Whether for a leisurely multi-course dinner or a focused business lunch, MINNECI brings a relaxed, deeply Italian sensibility to fine dining, rooted in two decades of tradition and a clear focus on genuine hospitality.

Concept Authentic Italian restaurant in a stylistically authentic Renaissance building. À la carte and tasting menu, 4/5/6 courses, lunch options of 3–5 courses. Culinary Style Italian classics kept up to date. Sometimes moderately refined, sometimes excitingly modernized, but always flawlessly executed. Stuffed pasta simply cannot surpass ricotta tortelli paired with duck liver mousse. This is especially true when caramelized figs in cassis butter contribute sweetness and balsamic foam adds a delicate, tangy richness. An irresistible, butter-tender venison loin arrives at the table in a very traditional manner with chestnut cream, while the Carbonara is playfully deconstructed: as pecorino ravioli with a fried quail egg, crispy pork cheek, and pepper foam. Brilliant! Wine 440 labels from Italy’s top winemakers, complemented by a remarkable selection of Croatian wines. Ambiance La vita è bella! Dreamy Italian atmosphere, highly professional hospitality. Verdict The definitive address for enchanting culinary detours to Italy.
