The story
Since opening its doors in May 2018, Schupps has brought a refined yet unpretentious dining experience to Deisenhofen, just south of Munich. The restaurant is a family affair, driven by the deep culinary expertise of chef Markus Schupp and the warm hospitality of host Regina Isenmann. Their shared philosophy is refreshingly direct: honest, aromatic, and fresh cooking, rooted in seasonal German cuisine.
Markus Schupp honed his skills in prestigious kitchens, including the Michelin-starred Ente im Nassauer Hof in Wiesbaden, where he rose to the position of Sous Chef. His wife, Regina Schupp, also brings formidable experience, having cooked at the star-awarded Munich restaurant Tramin and served as head chef at Wiesbaden’s Les Deux. Together, they create a menu that changes with the seasons, sourcing only the highest quality, fresh ingredients.
The setting matches the food: a lovingly renovated space on Bahnhofstraße with 30 indoor seats in a modern, cozy atmosphere. When weather permits, 20 to 30 outdoor spots under the trees offer a lovely alternative. The service is attentive and friendly, aiming to anticipate every need without formality.
At lunch, Schupps offers a restorative midday break, while evenings present a choice between à la carte favorites and rotating seasonal menus. The kitchen’s commitment to sustainable, regionally sourced produce shines through in every dish. Guests can also enjoy curated German wines recommended by Regina Isenmann. The restaurant’s quality has earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction, a fitting recognition for a place that balances modern technique with genuine, seasonal German flavors.
