The story
Perched directly on the natural beach of the Weissenhaus estate, Bootshaus brings a relaxed, Mediterranean spirit to the coast of Oldenburg in Holstein. The restaurant’s expansive terraces, sea breeze, and sweeping views of the Baltic Sea create an atmosphere that feels like a warm summer night on the Mediterranean – without leaving Germany.
The kitchen focuses on seasonal produce from local growers, interpreted through the lens of beloved Mediterranean classics. The result is a contemporary, regionally-rooted international cuisine that showcases the culinary richness of the area. Whether you visit for lunch, afternoon coffee with sweet desserts, or an evening dinner, the quality of both service and food is consistently high.
Bootshaus’s location is its signature. The restaurant sits directly on the sand, with the sea stretching to the horizon. For special occasions or a romantic evening, guests can book a private “Dinner Table” in one of the Beach Cabanas or the exclusive Vogelnest (Bird’s Nest). These private dining options, along with the outdoor seating, make the restaurant a favourite for those seeking a memorable meal by the water.
The relaxed, high-end atmosphere has earned Bootshaus recognition from multiple guides: 3 cooking spoons from Schlemmer Atlas, 1 red cap from Gault&Millau, 3 cooking caps from Bertelsmann’s large hotel & restaurant guide, 2 Fs from Feinschmecker Journal, 6+ pans from the culinary travel guide “gusto”, and 2 forks from falstaff. Michelin has also recommended the restaurant.
Bootshaus is open Wednesday through Sunday for lunch (12:00–17:00) and dinner (18:00–21:30). Reservations are required for dinner; lunch guests are welcome without a booking. The restaurant is located at Strandstraße 4, 23758 Weissenhaus, with parking available via Seestraße/K48. From the car park, it is a two-minute walk across the dyke.
