The story
Restaurant Weihermühle in Pirmasens serves regional cuisine within a modernized historic estate. Owner and host Sebastian Cronauer returned to the property after completing his hotel training, following a purchase by his parents in the nineteen eighties. He designed the interior layout to function as a true home rather than a commercial facility. The kitchen operates under the same principle, focusing on a refined Landhausküche that respects the raw ingredients.
Guests select from several small menus that feature either meat or plant based plates. Every component traces back to neighboring farms and certified organic growers. This supply chain ensures the distinct character of Palatinate cooking remains visible on the table. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded two spoons to acknowledge how consistently the team executes this regional cuisine without unnecessary complexity.
The original mill structures were carefully renovated while leaving their load bearing walls intact. Rough stone meets polished wood throughout the dining areas, creating a grounded atmosphere that matches the surrounding hills. Expansive glass panels frame direct sightlines to the dense woodland and quiet valleys below. Most visitors spend their days hiking designated trails before returning to the property for dinner and early rest.
