The story
On Pölle 8, in the medieval old town of Quedlinburg, KIKU Restaurant by Jan Fribus offers a space of calm and genuine hospitality. The kitchen team works small and dedicated, serving selected courses personally at the table. The result is an evening that feels both intimate and generous.
The restaurant’s precise, ingredient-focused cooking earned it a Michelin Recommended award. The cuisine is modern, but its soul is a thoughtful blend of European craftsmanship and Asian flavours – clear, reduced dishes with depth and surprise.
Menus change with the seasons and are built on relationships with local farms and select producers. The full tasting menu is priced at 145€, the shorter version at 115€, with juice or wine pairings from 40€ to 70€.
Dishes from the current menu include Hamachi with colourful radishes, leche de tigre and ponzu; Reh Tartar on Hokkaido brioche with kimchi and sambal; Shu Mai filled with scallops, prawns, caviar and Aji Amarillo; and a Chawanmushi with ikura, crab, white asparagus and bisque. Further courses feature Kombu-cured salmon with water chestnut, kohlrabi-dill and summer Vin Jaune; and Hibachi rabbit with potato pancake, malt, carrots and a pine-cone jus. A rhubarb sorbet, Erdbeer Mochi, and Matcha honey cake with chia, melon and mint complete the meal.
Dinner is served Thursday through Sunday from 18:00 to 22:00. The team recommends advance reservation, available online or by phone. Outdoor seating is offered when weather permits, adding to the relaxed atmosphere in the historic setting.
Here, the focus is on genuine taste, quiet attention, and the kind of cooking that feels both precise and personal.
