The story

Atelier Tian in Ravensburg: Handcrafted International & Modern Cuisine

Atelier Tian: Handcrafted, Weltoffen, Saisonal

Perched within the historic walls of the Veitsburg, Atelier Tian offers a dining experience that is both sophisticated and refreshingly unpretentious. Owner and chef Chris Ott describes his style simply as “casual, gemütlich & lecker” – cozy and delicious – a promise delivered with high-quality, modern cuisine.

The kitchen focuses on international dishes with a strong regional connection. Ott’s cooking draws on French and Asian accents, with a menu that changes with the seasons. Guests can choose from three to seven courses, beginning with a welcome “Flowers4U,” a greeting from the kitchen, and a signature bread course, all leading to a sweet “finale Schnabulage.” The ethos extends beyond the plate, with a strong emphasis on animal welfare, ecological agriculture, and a thoughtfully curated wine list focused on Germany and France.

The restaurant’s setting is as memorable as the food. Housed in a baroque “Lustschlösschen” on the grounds of the Veitsburg, the dining room offers an unparalleled view over Ravensburg. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with only five tables in the front row for a maximum of twenty guests, ensuring an intimate experience. For private events, the space can accommodate up to fifty.

This commitment to handcrafted quality and a welcoming atmosphere has earned Atelier Tian a Michelin recommendation, marking it as a destination for those seeking genuine, skillfully prepared modern cuisine.

Concept A simply elegant restaurant located on the Veitsburg, personally run by Petra and Christian Ott. Two menus (classic or vegan) featuring 3 to 6 courses, with a strong emphasis on organic farming. A beer garden is available during the summer months. Culinary Style Original in the best sense: It ranges from a roast jus served alongside bread ("just dip it, just like at home!") to a pastrami and foie gras taco with mushrooms, a beetroot rosette with leche de tigre and beech nuts, or two preparations of crispy-baked milk-fed suckling pig accompanied by a mini quiche. What Christian Ott accomplishes here as the sole chef is impressive both conceptually and technically, with a flavor profile that leans more toward robust than delicate. Wine Around 150 wines, with a particularly noteworthy and exciting selection from young German winemakers. Atmosphere Familiar yet not obsequious, modern yet not cold: the restaurant strikes a charming balance. The spectacular sunset view adds an extra atmospheric bonus. Conclusion The location, cuisine, and hospitality blend together perfectly here.
