The story
In 1973, Werner Veit and his sister Marianne built the “Krone” in Bempflingen, succeeding the family’s “Alte Krone” from 1893. Today, the restaurant is run by the next generation: the Veit and Jabot families. Ingeborg Veit and her daughter Verena Jabot lead the service, while Werner Veit and his son-in-law Michael Jabot command the kitchen. Their approach is straightforward: high-quality ingredients, traditional techniques, and a touch of international inspiration. The result is what the team calls “zwanglose Gourmetküche” – unpretentious gourmet cooking. This philosophy has earned the restaurant a Michelin recommendation, a nod to its consistent, refined kitchen.
The menu at Krone is built on a foundation of Classic French cuisine, with dishes that have become signatures over the years. Regulars return for the French Burgundy snails, the Parisian pepper steak, and the French onion soup. These classics sit alongside a regularly changing three-course menu that reflects the seasons and the chefs’ creativity. Each course offers a choice, with options that might lean toward fish or meat, and always a sweet or savory dessert. The weekly lunch menu, available Thursday through Saturday, follows the same pattern, offering a changing three-course selection with a choice of main. There is also an à la carte menu for those who prefer to build their own meal.
The restaurant balances a refined setting with a genuinely warm, family-like atmosphere. The dining room and separate event spaces accommodate everything from an intimate à la carte dinner to a family celebration or business meal. Small guests are welcome, with child-friendly dishes available, and the kitchen is attentive to allergies and intolerances. Guests come not only from nearby Nürtingen, Metzingen, and Reutlingen, but also from Stuttgart, about 30 minutes away, drawn by the promise of quality cooking without formality.
