The story
Just two minutes from the Forbach TGV station, in the small town of Stiring-Wendel, Chef Lydia Egloff runs La Bonne Auberge with her family. Her cuisine is described as a "concentré de terroir" – a rich concentration of local land and tradition, delivered with a subtle blend of flavors and deep emotion. The Michelin guide has recognized this work, recommending the address for its remarkable savoir-faire.
The dining room is intimate, with only 25 covers, and a terrace opens onto a garden for warmer months. The atmosphere is one of warm hospitality, where guests are greeted personally and the meal unfolds at a deliberate, unhurried pace. The menu is a carte blanche to the chef’s creativity, featuring specialties like foie gras d’oie with fresh figs, a lobster "grecque" with Camus artichoke and fennel, and a violet-burnt ice cream with a chocolate-sangria cigar.
The wine list is interesting, and the entire experience is built on a foundation of house-made dishes and organic produce. It is a place where the meal is the event, and the chef’s passion is the main ingredient.
