The story
Since 2003, Sabine and Marc Wiederer have been welcoming guests to Kings and Queens in Schweinfurt's city center. Their kitchen is described as classic and innovative – a promise they keep with a monthly changing menu that follows the seasons. The restaurant’s commitment to seasonal variety and careful sourcing has earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026.
Kings and Queens offers three different set menus each month, which guests can take as complete multi-course experiences or order à la carte. The “One Menu” features dishes like quail breast with nut butter blanc and morel risotto, or beef filet with oxtail jus and onion marmalade. A dedicated vegetarian menu shows equal care: roasted beetroot with pumpernickel and feta, hummus with pomegranate and avocado, and sweet potato with roasted chickpeas. The “Other Menu” includes inventive options such as “Kings & Queens” tapas, fillet of tub gurnard with Arabic spiced blanc, and Iberico pork two ways with wild broccoli and parmesan polenta.
The wine list holds nearly 200 labels, with a focus on the wines of Franconia – fitting for a restaurant rooted in one of Germany’s finest wine regions. A selection of wines from southern Europe and overseas rounds out the offering. Kings and Queens also hosts regular events like live cooking evenings, degustation menus, and themed dinners such as their Valentine’s Day special.
For those who want to host at home or at a chosen venue, the restaurant offers full catering. The team handles everything, so guests can simply enjoy being hosts. Whether it’s an intimate dinner or a larger celebration, Kings and Queens brings their approachable, high-quality cooking beyond the restaurant walls.
