The story
Heckerstuben in Sinsheim anchors its reputation on decades of dedicated German cooking. Robert Petermann and Isabell Landsgesell have shared a professional kitchen since 1987. After managing venues in neighboring towns, they opened this location in 2007. Their kitchen coordinates a monthly menu that prioritizes seasonal availability and straightforward craftsmanship.
The dining program centers on carefully prepared regional ingredients and reliable technique. Recent selections highlight morel mushroom Maultaschen alongside pan seared scallops. This approach to traditional German cuisine emphasizes balance over unnecessary complexity. Guests encounter dishes that adapt to the local harvest while maintaining consistent quality across the year.
Service occurs within the Wasserschloss Eichtersheim, a moated castle originally commissioned by the von Venningen family in the sixteenth century. Elegant interior rooms provide a quiet backdrop for conversation, whereas spring brings dining to a shaded terrace. A continuous six hectare park wraps around the building, giving visitors ample room to stroll before or after their meal. The combination of historic surroundings and reliable German plates secured two ladles from the Schlemmer Atlas in 2026.
