The story

5 Stuttgart – Michelin-Starred Modern Cuisine in a Historic Station

A place that is more than a number

In the heart of Stuttgart, within the historic walls of the city’s first train station, 5 defies easy labels. It is a gourmet restaurant, a wine bar, a lounge, and a café — a single address that shifts mood across two floors. Upstairs, the Michelin-starred dining room; downstairs, the 5 Wein Bar. The philosophy is simple: 5 is “pleasure, joy of life, taste, design, life.” It is a cosmopolitan oasis, a place where culinary excellence and effortless going out become one.

Radikosmos: a kitchen without borders

The driving force behind the kitchen is head chef Alexander Dinter. His menu, called “Radikosmos”, translates to “reduced, radical, refined.” It is a globe-trotting tasting experience, from dim sum with veal and blood orange to Balfegó tuna belly (otoro) with buttermilk and caviar, and a Black Cod in dashi and miso. A vegetarian version of the Radikosmos is also available, featuring dishes like a cauliflower reinterpretation with purple curry and a sweet potato with tamarind and pak choi. The cuisine is unapologetically modern, with dishes that take weeks to perfect and are served without compromise. Dinter’s approach is clear: “My kitchen without borders.”

A Michelin-starred setting

5 has held a Michelin star for its high-quality cooking, a recognition that matches the ambition of the space. The restaurant is set across two levels, with a sleek, design-forward atmosphere that feels both luxurious and relaxed. Guests can book a table in the gourmet restaurant upstairs or in the wine bar below. Lunch is served Tuesday through Saturday, and dinner nightly from 18:00. The restaurant is also rated number one for fine dining in Germany on TripAdvisor, year after year. It is a place that lives up to its name — more than a number, more than a meal.
