The story
Since opening in February 2021, Caro's has become a fixture in Tübingen’s dining scene. The name blends the owners Karoline and Carsten, and their vision is a restaurant where craft and conviviality meet. After a challenging start during the pandemic, the team built a loyal local following. In May 2025, they moved to a new home directly on the Neckar river, inside the Hotel Domizil at Wöhrdstraße 7. The space is modern yet retains the city’s characteristic charm, with views over the water and the old town.
The kitchen at Caro's works with a daily selection of seasonal ingredients, and since 2024, their sourcing has been independently verified under the "Schmeck-den-Süden" program. They deliberately purchase produce from Baden-Württemberg to keep supply chains short and support local producers. This philosophy underpins everything from classic dishes to fresh fish and creative vegetarian plates. The cuisine is contemporary and international, but grounded in a deep respect for what the region offers.
The team treats each guest individually, aiming for a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. Beyond the restaurant, Caro's also offers takeaway: house-made jars of fully cooked meals, fresh pasta, chutneys, marmalades, and syrups. Their dedication to quality and consistency has earned them a Michelin Recommended award, recognition that aligns with their own standards of precision and pleasure. Caro's is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday, with a warm kitchen serving until 21:30.
