The story
Am Kring sits in the middle of a rare, centuries-old village layout: the “Kring,” a ring-shaped settlement built around the church over 600 years ago. The Winkelhorst family has owned the house since 1985, and since 2011 the second generation has been at the helm. Their philosophy, as they put it, is to offer guests a piece of Westphalian hospitality alongside excellent cuisine. The team’s dedication to service and a familial atmosphere is evident from the moment you step in.
The Michelin Bib Gourmand award (2026 edition) highlights this restaurant for “good quality, good value cooking.” It’s a fitting nod to the straightforward, carefully prepared food that the kitchen delivers – rooted in Westphalian traditions and made with respect for the ingredients.
