The story

Söl'ring Hof: Two Michelin Stars, Modern Cuisine on Sylt, Westerland

A Welcome on the Dune

On the island of Sylt, in the quiet village of Rantum near Westerland, Söl'ring Hof sits atop a dune with an uninterrupted view of the North Sea. The restaurant is part of an intimate five-star hotel, but the spirit of the place is anything but formal. The team describes it as “exclusive understatement, unruffled, relaxed, and very warm-hearted.” That tone carries through every dish.

The kitchen, awarded two Michelin stars for “excellent cooking,” interprets modern cuisine with a clear sense of place. The menu draws from the North Sea and the surrounding landscape, prepared with precision and restraint. An outstanding wine list – one of the restaurant’s noted strengths – complements the cooking, with bottles chosen to match the coastal flavours.

A Gathering of Flavours

Each November, Söl'ring Hof hosts the Island Food Festival, a five-day celebration of Sylt’s culinary identity. The restaurant joins forces with other top addresses on the island – Landhaus Stricker, Hotel-Restaurant Jörg Müller, Samoa Seepferdchen, and Severins – to present a series of events. In 2026, the programme includes a four-hands dinner pairing North Sea ingredients with Breton cuisine from guest chef Frédéric Morel, a culinary island safari, and a final feast at Landhaus Stricker. These events reveal the restaurant’s deep roots in the region’s producer network and its commitment to showcasing the best of the island.

The Experience

Dining here feels like a retreat. The setting is calm, the service attentive without fuss. In good weather, the outdoor seating lets you take in the sea breeze. Parking is available, making it an easy destination for a special evening. Söl'ring Hof is not just a meal – it’s a place where the team of 55 staff members, caring for just 15 rooms and suites, ensures that every guest feels genuinely welcomed. That sense of hospitality, paired with two-star cooking, makes this a destination worth the journey.

The gem right in the middle of the Rantum dune. Almost a legend, cozy, stylish, and very personal – exactly that defines the charm of the restaurant led by Jan-Philipp Berner.

Concept In rhythm with the seasons, the filigree, product-focused creations by host Jan-Philipp Berner and head chef Jan Fehling are defined by sensory balance. Harmonies, textures, and nuances take precedence over opulence: the halibut with beetroot and sweet woodruff opens with earthy and fresh notes, the salmon trout with pumpkin and roe entices with gentle warmth. The ling and seafood stew with leek and caviar captivates with depth and elegance, before the pigeon with young cabbage and blackberry brings earthy richness and fruit into delicate balance. "Rose Blossoms" concludes the menu with a fragrant, light, and poetic touch.
