The story
Since 1878, this property in Sprockhövel has welcomed guests, evolving from a stop for passing coachmen to a destination for refined dining. Today, Habbel's is a Michelin-recommended restaurant that honors its past with a distinctly modern approach.
The kitchen balances German and French country traditions with innovative creations, sourcing its own raw produce from the restaurant’s garden. This farm-to-table philosophy ensures the menu changes constantly, driven by what the market and the garden provide. The international cuisine here is best explored through the tasting menu, available in three to six courses, which showcases the kitchen team's skill with dishes like rosa gebratene Entenbrust in Cassissauce or Dialog von Rinderfilet und Hasenrücken.
An integral part of the experience is the on-site distillery and wine import business. The wine list is exceptional, boasting over 1,000 selections, including rare bottles. The distillery itself is recognized as one of the top 100 best-stocked whisky shops in Germany, home to the country's oldest whisky. In warmer months, the beer garden in front of the historic, protected distillery building offers a relaxed setting for lingering over a meal and a glass.
