The story
Casa Christa rises above Balatonfüred, where the kitchen merges refined Hungarian cooking with the relaxed rhythm of an Italian agriturismo. The 45,000-square-meter estate rests on Kis Gella Hill, anchored by seven renovated Tuscan-style wine press houses and framed by 2,000 almond trees. Inside the main barn, robust wooden tables pair with thoughtfully chosen place settings against a backdrop of quiet sophistication. Large openings frame shimmering glimpses of Lake Balaton, keeping the landscape central to the dining experience.
Keve Tóth leads the kitchen following a 2025 transition, guided by mentor Ádám Barna. The menu remains concise, relying on local produce and modern techniques. A clear beef consommé arrives tableside, accompanied by a pressed meat disc and vegetables cooked to a firm al dente bite. The team also reinterprets Hungarian culinary traditions through a lightly spiced Spanish blood sausage ball served alongside a crisp green apple salad.
Recognition has followed this steady evolution, including a second Michelin Bib Gourmand and a score of 14 from Gault&Millau for 2026. The wine program supports the kitchen's dedication to Hungarian cuisine, prioritizing producers from the Balaton Uplands. Every local bottle appears on the list by the glass, complemented by selections from other Hungarian zones. A dedicated Champagne cellar rounds out the beverage offering with notable depth.
