Celebrated table
The story
Tihanyi Vinarius in Balatonfüred brings a refined approach to Hungarian cuisine under the guidance of brothers Tamás and Imre Vadász. Recognized with a twelve rating from Gault&Millau, the kitchen delivers a compact menu where every plate justifies its place. While Tamás oversees daily operations, Imre leads the open space where precise technique meets local ingredients. Guests receive a warm welcome before settling into an interior defined by elegant furnishings and transparent culinary craftsmanship.
The dining program balances familiar foundations with unexpected combinations. Marinated courgette arrives alongside creamy burrata and a sharp pumpkin seed oil dressing that cuts through the richness. Duck breast follows a flawless sear, served pink and glazed, then accompanied by chewy csusza noodles and a bright fermented cabbage relish. Sommeliers guide visitors through dry whites and structured reds that complement these preparations, while dessert wines naturally bridge the gap to a reimagined curd strudel finished with fresh strawberries.
Housed inside a spacious thatched roof building that once functioned as a vineyard press house, the space retains a strong agricultural character. A vast underground cellar anchors the basement level, while the main dining floor opens toward an immense stone terrace. From this elevated vantage point, guests watch the water of the Inner Lake of Tihany stretch out below. The outdoor area lacks dense plantings, making shaded indoor seating the more comfortable option during peak summer heat.
