The story
Dobrumba brings a spectrum of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavors to the heart of Budapest, drawing recipes collected from travels stretching from Atlas to Ararat. The kitchen launched in 2017 to introduce a sharing-focused dining model that blends Lebanese, Moroccan, Turkish, and Georgian traditions into a single menu. Guests encounter a space designed as a communal living room where bold music and vibrant decor set the stage for generous mezze plates.
The menu highlights homemade hummus variations like the Jerusalem salad bowl and the tahini version topped with green zhoug, while this Near-Eastern cuisine also offers meat dishes including piri-piri chicken thigh fillet served with tomato rice and house pickles. Pomegranate chicken liver arrives roasted with baharat spice and pine nuts, and plant-based diners can choose burnt eggplant mutabal with harissa or roasted cauliflower prepared with salted lemon and tofu cream.
The dining room features gently worn paintwork paired with vibrant colors to foster a lively, sociable mood. Bold music plays throughout the space, reinforcing the venue's identity as a communal living room for the seventh district. The layout encourages conversation, making the environment ideal for groups enjoying the extensive selection of mezze plates.
Sommeliers curate a list of organic and biodynamic wines, while the bar crafts cocktails using fermented components such as kombucha and verjus. Drink selections range from a Persian mojito blending spiced rum with kaffir lime to refreshing options like vanilla sky coolers made with kombucha and vegan foam. Freshly pressed juices from Hungarian small producers offer additional non-alcoholic variety.
