The story

allta Dublin: Modern Irish Seafood & Cocktails at Michelin-Recommended Restaurant

allta: Where the Irish Landscape Meets the Table

In Dublin's Grand Canal Dock, allta brings a focused vision of modern Irish cooking to life. The restaurant is helmed by chef Niall Davidson, whose philosophy is rooted in the simplest of roles: to honour what the season offers and let it speak clearly at the table. This approach earned allta a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026 and the title of #1 restaurant in Ireland in the McKenna Guide that same year.

The dining experience is structured around a set menu at 95 per person, composed of four "moments" — land, coast, mountain, and garden. The menu is a direct reflection of the Irish landscape, built on close relationships with farmers, fishermen, and producers. Snacks like a squid doughnut with hazelnut miso and basil, or scallop with leche de tigre and garden vegetables lead into a first moment of Carraignamuc and chicory ravioli with tonka bean and celeriac. A second moment brings corvina with brown crab, green onions, and rocket, followed by Skeaghanore duck with asparagus and pumpkin seed satay. The finish is a garden moment of strawberry, rhubarb, sheep yoghurt, and tarragon.

allta na Farraige: Cocktail and Seafood Bar

Adjacent to the restaurant, allta na farraige offers a more casual, tapas-style seafood experience. The cocktail bar adheres to a strict "only Irish, only independent" philosophy, using spirits from Irish artisans who are reimagining the island's ancient distilling traditions. Drinks are curated by Alan Mulvihill and head bartender Erin Padilla, with creations like a Martini using fermented blackcurrant and basalt gin, or a Spicy Margarita with Killowen Pangur poitin and prawn oil.

The seafood menu is cooked in front of you, inspired by flavours from around the world but starring mainly Irish wild seafood. Plates range from Cromane oyster with seaweed hot sauce to BBQ scallop in the shell with XO butter and dulse, and blue fin tuna with Jersey ricotta. It's a lively, welcoming space that celebrates the best of the island's waters.

A Season-Driven Modern Cuisine

allta's cooking is a clear expression of modern cuisine, shaped by the changing seasons. The restaurant's commitment to ingredient-led cooking, combined with its innovative cocktail programme, makes it a standout in Dublin's dining scene. Whether you choose the four-moment tasting menu or the relaxed seafood bar, every dish is a direct conversation with the Irish landscape.
