The story
Overlooking the harbour in Howth, Mamó describes itself simply as a modern Irish restaurant. The kitchen, led by a team that prizes ingredient-led cooking, sources from some of Ireland and Europe’s most dedicated producers. The result is an ever-evolving 18-dish à la carte menu that changes with the seasons – no two visits are quite the same.
The cooking here is Contemporary, rooted in respect for the raw product. Whether it’s a delicate seafood from the nearby coast or a vegetable from a small-scale farmer, each element is treated with precision. The dynamic wine list is built to match, offering pairings that complement the kitchen’s subtle, focused flavours.
Mamó’s reputation has been recognised by the Michelin guide, which awarded the restaurant a Recommended status in 2026. This nod reflects the team’s consistent quality and their ability to create something both grounded and surprising.
The restaurant is also a stage for collaboration. In January 2026, Australian chef Kyle Vaughan – formerly of the Michelin-starred TIMBERYARD in Edinburgh – will present a full à la carte menu as guest chef. It’s a rare chance to see another kitchen’s sensibility expressed through the same seasonal, ingredient-first ethos. Earlier in the year, a Penedès wine evening hosted by sommelier Anke Hartmann paired a seven-course tasting menu with the wines of that Spanish region, served at the restaurant’s tasting counter for just nine guests.
The setting at Harbour House is unpretentious and welcoming. The dining room offers counter seating for those who want to watch the action, and there is outdoor seating when the weather allows. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, and the team is happy to accommodate changes to bookings.
Mamó is open for lunch and dinner from Thursday through Monday, with last bookings varying by day. It is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Reservations for the coming months open regularly, and the team encourages booking directly through their site.
