The story
Just 45 minutes from Dublin, in the village of Roundwood, The Coach House occupies a beautifully restored 1820s building with interiors by designer Ros Walshe. This is a place where a welcoming pub, an acclaimed restaurant, and cosy bedrooms sit under one roof. The restaurant earned a Michelin Recommended award in the 2026 guide and was named one of Ireland’s top 100 by the Sunday Times – recognition that speaks to its commitment to seasonal, locally sourced modern cuisine.
The kitchen works directly with small producers: Ballincarey Organic Farm, Top of the Hill Farm, The Craft Butcher, Kish Fish, and Ashford Mushrooms, among others. The result is a menu that changes with the seasons but consistently highlights the best of Wicklow and Irish ingredients. Starters might include Ballincarey Farm beetroot with whipped St. Tola goats’ cheese and candied walnuts, or salt and pepper Donegal squid with lemon aioli. Mains range from a Coach House Wagyu cheeseburger with pickles and fries to pan-fried Irish cod with warm tartare sauce, or slow-cooked Wicklow lamb shoulder with celeriac purée and lamb jus. There’s also a set dinner menu for groups, and a Thursday-only Neighbourhood Menu offering two courses for €29.
Downstairs, the pub serves craft beers and bar food in a relaxed setting with open fires. Upstairs, the bedrooms offer a comfortable retreat, and morning breakfast is served next door at the Roundwood Stores bakery. Whether you’re stopping for a pint after a Wicklow hill walk, settling in for a special dinner, or staying overnight, The Coach House delivers a genuine taste of Irish hospitality – with modern cuisine that earns its Michelin nod.
