The story

Locanda Mammì – Agnone, Italy | Michelin-Starred Modern Classic Cuisine

A Michelin Star Returns to Molise

In the quiet hills of Agnone, chef Stefania Di Pasquo has realized a dream that began in childhood. Her restaurant, Locanda Mammì, earned a Michelin star in 2026 – the first for Molise in over two decades. The recognition celebrates a kitchen that reinterprets the region’s classic cuisine with a modern, feminine touch.

Stefania’s training took her to Niko Romito’s school and Casadonna Reale, but her heart remained in Molise. Every dish on her menu starts with local, seasonal ingredients: trout, pecorino, wild herbs, game. The result is plates like trota, carota e mandorle (trout, carrot, almond) or paccheri, pomodoro, acciughe e cardamomo – vivid, precise, and unmistakably of this place.

The Team Behind the Table

In the dining room, sommelier Tomas Torsiello – Stefania’s partner in life and work – leads the wine experience. His selection of Italian and international labels is designed to complement, never overpower, the food. Together, they have shaped Locanda Mammì into a destination that feels like a true home.

Atmosphere and Setting

The restaurant occupies a restored farmhouse, with a terrace looking out over the Molise hills. In winter, the fireplace warms a room that blends contemporary design with traditional copper accents – a nod to local craftsmanship. Guests can also stay overnight in the locanda’s rooms, waking to a generous breakfast of local produce.

The Menu

The menu changes with the seasons, offering three paths: a five-course “Terra” (€60), a four-course choice, and an eight-course “Espressioni” tasting menu curated by the chef. Wine pairings start at €30 for three glasses. Dishes such as cavatello ragu di faraona e ricotta salata, guancia di vitello brasata alla tintilia, and agnello, cipolla ed erbe amare showcase the balance between tradition and invention. Desserts like pane, vino e caciocavallo and riso latte e cannella close the meal on a note that is both playful and deeply rooted.
