The story
Ristorante Marina Grande sits directly on the namesake beach, where the waves of the Amalfi Coast lap just metres from the covered terrace. What began in 1918 as a beach establishment moved to this spot in 1922, and by the late 1950s the family had turned their passion into a restaurant. Today, it remains a family-run fixture, offering lunch and dinner with a view of the historic centre of Amalfi and the bay beyond.
The kitchen draws on the traditions of the Amalfi Coast, using local produce and seafood to create a menu that changes with the seasons. The team’s commitment to quality and freshness has earned Ristorante Marina Grande a Michelin Recommended rating, a recognition that speaks to the consistency and care behind every dish. Antipasti range from a raw selection of amberjack tartare with peach and coriander to red shrimp marinated in lemon and mint, and oysters from Marenne Oléron with a spritz granita. First courses include carnaroli risotto with basil, cooked and raw langoustines, and candied lemon, or spaghetti with clams, garlic, and parsley. Among the secondi, grilled pezzogna with green beans and mint, and slow-cooked cod with lemon, crushed potatoes, and fava beans are standouts.
The restaurant’s covered terrace provides shelter from the sun while keeping you close to the sea. A lounge bar serves a wide selection of cocktails, wines, and spirits – the Sfusato Amalfitano Cocktail, made with limoncello, vodka, and elderflower, is a local twist. For those who want to spend the entire day on the coast, a private beach is available.
Marina Grande’s approach is straightforward: let the ingredients speak, respect the region’s culinary roots, and welcome every guest with warmth. The Michelin recommendation reflects a kitchen that does exactly that, day after day.
