The story
On the elegant, tree-lined seafront of Amalfi, Sensi occupies a refined dining room and a terrace with one of the most panoramic views in town. The space is defined by its sophisticated interior details, but it is the outdoor setting that draws the eye, offering a front-row seat to the beauty of the Amalfi Coast.
The kitchen is led by Chef Alessandro Tormolino, a young talent who honed his craft alongside masters such as Vissani, Colagreco, Iaccarino, and Locatelli. His philosophy is rooted in the flavours of his native Campania. “My cuisine has the taste of Nature,” he states. “All experimentation with raw materials converges toward a single goal: offering an exceptional gastronomic experience in which the authenticity of the products is savoured, using all their parts.”
This commitment to the whole ingredient is expressed through a distinctly Mediterranean cuisine that balances land and sea. Tasting paths range from four to eight courses, including a dedicated “Natural Experience” menu and a “Tradition” menu. Notably, Sensi also offers a completely vegan menu that avoids the “four whites” (sugar, flour, salt, and oil), delivering a surprising and healthy taste experience. A separate Bistrot lunch service provides a more casual option.
The restaurant’s dedication to this natural, ingredient-driven approach earned it a Michelin star in the 2023 edition of the guide, a recognition that underscores the quality of Tormolino’s cooking. The chef has also been honoured by La Liste as one of the best restaurants in Southern Europe and is a member of the prestigious JRE Italia association.
For those who arrive early, the Rooftop Bar, “Signature by Sensi,” offers a star-worthy aperitivo on the terrace, setting the stage for an evening of authentic, refined Mediterranean dining.
