The story

Osteria Grande in Arezzo: Michelin-Recommended Italian Contemporary Cuisine by Chef Fatjon Goga

Osteria Grande

Since June 2022, Osteria Grande has brought a new energy to Arezzo’s historic Piazza Grande. Chef and owner Fatjon Goga conceived this restaurant as a tribute to pure Italianness and to the city itself. The name says it all: “Grande” nods to the square’s grandeur and to the ambition of the project.

The atmosphere is intimate and bourgeois, with a smart, contemporary feel that stays in harmony with the surrounding medieval beauty. It is a place for a relaxed dinner or a moment of well-being, whether you sit inside or on the outdoor terrace.

Chef Fatjon Goga

Born in Albania in 1991, Goga arrived in Italy as a child. He began his career in fine dining at 19, working at Don Alfonso and later at a resort in Montepulciano. In 2015 he took over the restaurant at the Marriott Hotel in Arezzo, opening his first fine dining restaurant, Lo Zafferano. A year later, he managed the historic Ristorante dell’Amorosa, which he ran until 2021. His cooking has been shaped by the models of Ducasse and Marchesi, but his own voice is clear: a deep respect for raw materials and a love for Tuscany.

The Cuisine and Wine

The kitchen offers three tasting menus, each anchored to a different theme but all driven by the best local ingredients. The goal is to inscribe Tuscan identity within a broader Mediterranean and Italian sensibility, with echoes of home cooking and the chef’s travels. Guests can choose the full tasting experience or order à la carte.

The wine list is curated with equal passion. It focuses on the terroir of Arezzo and Tuscany, while also reaching beyond Italy for a contemporary perspective. Every bottle brings a story – from the winemakers who shaped history to those defining its future.

Recognition

Osteria Grande’s approach has earned it a recommendation from the Michelin Guide, a fitting acknowledgment of Goga’s commitment to quality and his vision of modern Italian cuisine in the heart of Arezzo.
