The story
In the rolling hills between Asti and Turin, Madama Vigna has been a welcoming stop for travelers and locals alike. This three-star hotel and trattoria in Baldichieri d'Asti offers a kitchen rooted in the traditions of Piedmont and the Asti area. The restaurant’s reputation for honest, flavourful cooking earned it a Michelin Recommended award in 2026, a recognition that speaks to its consistent quality and dedication to local ingredients.
Many of the vegetables that appear on the menu come from the Orto di Papà Nino – the garden of “Dad Nino,” cultivated with care and passion. The kitchen also makes its own potato gnocchi, a house specialty now available with whole spelt flour. Truffles and mushrooms are a particular strength: sourced from local foragers, they are used fresh in a variety of preparations, and theme menus can be arranged on request.
The dining rooms are spacious and warmly decorated, with a fireplace that adds to the convivial atmosphere. Madama Vigna is pet-friendly, providing water bowls and treats for four-legged guests. The trattoria is open for lunch and dinner, closed Monday lunch and Sunday dinner. It also offers a package that combines a double room, à la carte dinner with “Super” wines, and breakfast – a practical way to enjoy the full experience of the estate.
